Kugetsu Carved Tengu Mask, Red Lacquer
This wall mask was carved from wood by the artisan Seigaku for the Kugetsu studio. It depicts a Tengu [天狗] with a sharp expression and a long nose. The carving is mounted on a wooden board and finished in deep red lacquer. Tengu are legendary mountain beings in Japanese folklore. They are said to be protectors of the forest and masters of martial arts. A Tengu mask is kept in a room to invite protection and cultivate discipline through its focused gaze. This is a vintage piece. It is packed by hand in the Fukuoka studio and comes in its original box, still clean and close to new.

Every piece is packed by hand in Fukuoka inside a sturdy 3 mm corrugated carton, cushioned all round with air pillows so it cannot move. It travels with tracking all the way to your door: by EMS, insured for its full value, on orders of $100 or more, and by tracked airmail below that.
